George Gaither, Ph.D., HSPP

George is a Licensed Psychologist who earned his Master’s degree in Psychology and PhD in Clinical Psychology both from the University of North Dakota. Prior to college, George also served in the United States Army. Within the counseling environment, George tends to take a client-­centered, supportive, and insight-oriented approach to working with people to help them understand themselves and the problems they are experiencing. Working together, George believes that he can use his extensive clinical experience and understanding of psychological principles and techniques to help people solve problems, achieve goals, and find a place of peace in their lives. He uses an integrative approach wherein he considers psychological, behavioral, and personality factors together with family dynamics, interpersonal, sociocultural, and environmental factors to understand and resolve problems in thoughts, feelings, and behavior. George’s areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, sexuality, relationship, and gender related issues, and phase of life problems. He also specializes in couples counseling, specifically aiding partners in resolving sexual desire and functioning concerns. Additionally, George is supportive of all forms of consensual sexuality, relationship configurations, and gender identities. He is also passionate about providing individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community a safe and supportive therapeutic space. Since 2006, George has been an Associate Professor in the department of Psychological Science at Ball State University. In his personal time, George enjoys landscaping, gardening, spending time with family, watching the Colts and Pacers, and playing PokemonGo.
